Hi, I have just had my first chemo and antibodies treatment for non Hodgkin lymphoma. It was a huge shock to me and my family when I received the diagnosis. I have remained positive and grateful, thankful and humbled that my cancer can be treated with a good cure. Throughout my stays in hospital I have remained positive just wanting my diagnosis and treatment plan without going into the details that was a great coping mechanism for me. I was sick and suffer with nausea and my hair is starting to thin but I’m happy to pay the price for my cancer to be cured. The hospital can give you good anti nausea medication and there are wigs available until my hair grows back. I have 5 more chemo sessions to get as an outpatient. If anyone has any support and good tips and advice it would be most welcome. Thank you
Hi and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out around our blood cancer groups. I was diagnosed back in 1999 with a rare skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma so have been on this journey rather a long time.
There are over 60 types and subtypes of Lymphoma so we can’t have a support group for every type but these are our main Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma groups.
General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Have a look at the names then join the best group for your type by clicking on the link then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones). You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
There are lots of folks waiting to help you out as you navigate this journey.
I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.
