Hello people.
57 or 58....I stopped counting....not so healthy....still smoking and drinking....I KNOW! before you start, my other half has already said it all. The other 2 cancers did not bother me so much....this one has my head a bit messed up after diagnosis last week, and my partners. I suppose I have to just own it now like the other health problems and move forward, do positive things to help me heal or improve.......That is my whinge for the day..
Hi and welcome to the Macmillan Online Community but sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your diagnosis and ongoing challenges. I am glad to say that the Community is not a place where you will be judged but supported.
A cancer diagnosis can be challenging in so many ways but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey can help you navigate this difficult time, I had a totally different cancer so can I recommend you join our supportive Head and neck cancer group, this will be a good place to connect with patients and families navigating the same type of cancer journey.
To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service can give lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.
All the very best
3 sessions of Radiotherapy left to go, unfortunately, I am starting to get skin break down on my neck.....
Hi again , sorry to hear about the skin breakdown after 3 sessions.
I have no experience in this as my journey was completely different with a different type of cancer.
Could I suggest you put this up on the Head and neck cancer group as you would get good support from people who understand ((hugs))
Sorry, no just 3 sessions to go, and I am finished in the machine. I have had 5.5 weeks of Radiothearpy.
Thought I had put it on that group....finding it hard to get around on this site.
Thanks for the reply anyway.
Well done with only 3 zaps to go, although my cancer is completely different I had 45 radiotherapy sessions so understand in part what you have been through.
Just hit this Green link for the Head and neck cancer group and set up a discussion.
If you hit YOUR community name that will take you to YOUR area where you can find various information including all your groups and past activity on the site most of these will be in the MORE tab ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
