Hi, I was sent for a colonoscopy 3 weeks ago where I was told I had bowel cancer and it would involve an operation. I was too shocked to ask anything. A week later I had an MRI and CT scan and was informed that my results would be discussed at the  medical team meeting last week. One nurse told me someone would ring Thursday or Friday last week but by Friday afternoon I hadn’t received a call, so I phoned them. I was then informed I wouldn’t get a call until this week. It’s now Wednesday afternoon and still no call. The waiting is awful. Is this normal? I’m so stressed and anxious.

  • Hi  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

With regards you waiting for a call, in ‘normal’ times this happens a lot... but this is not normal times - sometimes you just need to be your own advocate and keep pushing the system until you get an answer...... but waiting is very stressful.

Talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this challenging time.
