Hello

Last week I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am 20 weeks pregnant and due to start EC chemotherapy next week. I’m feeling a little anxious about the side effects of of the chemo, especially as I cannot have some of the preventative medicines.

i also will have to re start chemo 2 weeks after the baby is born.

I wondered if anyone has any tips on dealing with side effects and also if anyone has experienced chemo while pregnant. I have looked on the mummy star website but it freaked me out!

Thank you

  • Hi

Congratulations on expecting a baby but I'm sorry that you have the worry of a cancer diagnosis at the same time.

I can see that you've already found and joined the breast cancer group and I'm sure if you post there you'll find people who can share their experiences with you. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight back there when you're ready to post.

You might also like to join the breast cancer for the under-50s group where you can also ask questions, share experiences and get support. To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
