5 years ago I had an axcillary lymph node dissection (left side) and thankfully have had the all clear.
I have been left with nerve damage which effects my left arm.
I take gabapentin (600mg 3 times day) which controls alot of the pain in my armpit but the numbness on the back of arm is unrelenting and when clothes rub it the pain is increased. It also feels slightly puffy and swollen in my upper arm and chest although nothing was of concern when I was signed off at the hospital.
Does anybody experience similar or have any relief for this? I have had capsaicin cream suggested but have not pursued this yet
Hi Mountainwalker and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you have been left with nerve damage after having an axillary lymph node dissection 5 years ago.
I'm presuming that as you've joined the melanoma group this operation was carried out after it was found that your melanoma had spread to the lymph nodes in your armpit. The group is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others.
