Hi all, I am new to this and not sure if I will get any responses but anything is worth a shot.

My mum had cancer in her bowel in 2018 which was removed by surgery and she was given the all clear. Then in November 2020 she had a ct scan which showed lesions in her liver, she then went on to have a mri scan and pet scan and colonoscopy. The results from the scans confirmed she has secondary liver cancer from the primary in her bowel. Like I have said above she had it in her bowel 2 years ago which was all removed, 2 years on and the tumours in her liver have only just shown which I find totally bizarre!?

They have told my mum that the cancer in her liver is incurable and cannot be operated on, this is because she has lots of little tumours all over her liver and not in one place. A liver transplant has also been ruled out so the only option we have is chemo, the chemo she is having is folfox.

My mum has a scan this Sunday to see if the chemo is/isn’t working and what the next steps are going forward, we will only know the results on the 9th March (I will lose my mind waiting). We feel so lost and in the dark with it all, my head is running in all sorts of directions as I don’t know anyone who has been through the same thing.

I have come on here to try and find similar experiences to my mum so I can prepare myself for what is about to come. I know each individual is different but I find that reading stories and experiences helps me and makes me feel a little less lost.

If anyone can reply please do so as it will be muchly appreciated. Xx
