I first had rectal cancer 5 year ago, had chemo radiotherapy as surgeon couldn't get it all out and had a miraculous disappearance. I was booked for an op, but went back to work. 6 months later I had secondary liver cancer and had a big liver resection op, followed by six months chemo. At the end of 2019 he first cancer came back, the surgeon hoped to keyhole it for a reversible stoma, but it turned out all the treatment had given me a Frozen pelvis and he had to dive in and root about a lot. I ended up with a would infection and no chance of reversal. My husband also had inoperable cancer and we supported each other all through my 5 year journey and his eight year one, but late last year he suffered a catastrophic stroke and died. I have found it very hard and this week I have a colonoscopy at the hospital my husband died at, it is the first time I will go there on my own, we always supported each other and Covid has made everything worse. I am sorry to sound so miserable but I might need talk to people in similar situations.

I don't take the moviprep, but have to eat mush all week and have a covid test before I go in and I'm not sure what it will be like. Anybody else had this experience? By the way, Hello, I am sorry to go on.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

Firstly can I offer my condolences on the loss of your husband last year. It sounds like you were incredibly supportive of each other so I can only begin to imagine how difficult it must be for you now.

I can see that you've already found and joined the bowel cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. I'm sure if you copy and paste your post into a new post there you'll find lots of people only too willing to support you.

When you have a minute it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.

Hi, I jumped into the discussion and put in the info that I have now put in my profile. I'm sure that a lot of people jump into a discussion, before they get properly started. No problem honest. Thanks for your support.
