Hi everyone.

I had a diagnosis of DCIS in October and had a wide excision lumpectomy, lymph node biopsy and breast reduction surgery on both breasts on 15th December. I know that I am incredibly lucky as my surgery went ahead, and my results were fantastic as in, the are was smaller than they thought so they got a wide margin and I do not need radiotherapy or anything else. So it is now 6 weeks since my surgery and I am healing well, but I am still so tired (I am 63) especialy mentaly, lately I feel vague and tired. Is that usual? The surgery was a little over 3 hours, but I thought I would be livelier by now.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that you don't feel that you're heeling as well as you should, especially mentally.

As the community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the very friendly breast cancer group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post your question in the same way as you posted here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
