Dear all
I have had so many questions for a while and feel I've come to the right place. I was diagnosed with DCIS with micro invasion on 23rd October and had my lumpectomy with lymph node removal of 19th Dec. I have since found out that the margins were not clear and therefore I require a second operation. The issue now is due to covid, no operations are currently going ahead in my area.
I have just been given Tamoxifen which I started taking yesterday to delay any further spread. I have high grade dcis.
My questions are how could I speed up the process for the second op, I have asked to be referred elsewhere but again not sure where operations are still going ahead. My consultant will explore this further for me. Secondly for ladies who may be taking Tamoxifen how are they finding the treatment and are they experiencing any side effects. Is anyone else been told there op is being delayed due to covid.
Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with DCIS last year and your currently waiting for a second operation.
As the community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post your question in the same way as you posted here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
