Recently lost my Dad

My Dad passed away on Tuesday. He had PMP cancer (one of the rare ones which is typical of my Dad - he could never have anything 'normal'!)

We're in the process of organising his funeral which is helping focus us all, but I'm concerned about the time after. What I keep thinking about is how I manage the firsts - first time we all meet up as a family, the first time we visit a favourite place of his, the first fathers day, his first birthday, my first birthday, the first Christmas etc. I feel like I'm on the edge of a cliff and could fall over any minute. I'm clinging on with my finger tips (having young children to look after helps take my mind off my grief for short periods of time).

Any advice from people who have gone through this would be so helpful right now.

Thanks

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm so very sorry to hear that your dad has recently passed away but you've come to the right place for support.

As the community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the bereaved family and friends group where you can give and receive support from others who will understand how you're feeling.

To do this just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you posted here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))
