Hello. I am awaiting a hospital appointment
my reason for joining this group is because I am terrified of what the results will be on the 26th January.
I found a lump on my right breast on New Year’s Eve and contacted my doctor on 4th January was seen that day and was red flagged to hospital because of the lump and also my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer at 39 I have just turned 41 and I am so scared in case the results are not good. I have had a what we thought was a frozen shoulder for months and have recently found out that my mum also had this before she found a lump. I am trying to be positive but finding it so difficult as it is constantly on my mind and I am seeing it everywhere I go. I would just like to know other people’s experiences of this if possible
Hi Loopie Lou, I'm so sorry that you find yourself in this situation. I'm relatively new hear, I was diagnosed around mid December. The waiting is really hard for everyone because you can't help but imagine the worst. There is not much you can do other than try and keep busy and remember that it might be good news but also if it isn't know that for the vast majority of us it is very treatable with a really good success rate.
There is a breast cancer group for U50's that you might want to try as well as the general breast cancer group which has a thread called AWAKE where someone is usually on at all hours of the day. Lots of lovely ladies at different stages or who have completed their treatment and have been cancer free for some years on the AWAKE thread.
Really hope it's good news for you and keep in touch if you need to talk.
xx
Hi and a second warm welcome to the Online Community, a Community that no one really looks to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your investigations.
A possible cancer diagnosis brings confusion, stress and many questions but I found talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helped a lot.
The Community is organised into support groups so you may want to start by joining our supportive Breast cancers and Breast cancer for the under-50s groups as this is the places where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as patient or family.
Follow the above links then choose ‘click to join' or ‘join’ when the page opens. You can then introduce yourself, post questions or just join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.
It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listing ear.
Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
Our Online Information and Support Section is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.
All the very best.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
