Hi Everyone, i'm compelled to join this lovely community seeing how amazing you are at supporting each other.  I was diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene mutation a while ago and have been in the system waiting for the ovaries to be removed plus a double mastectomy.

About 10 months ago I had a normal CA125 marker and the all clear from an ultrasound, but in prep for the routine operation had another blood test this week and was told yesterday that my marker came back at 1000, which i know is extremely high.  i have also been having symptoms for about 6 weeks but was telling myself they were related to the similar symptoms i had with the fibroids i was diagnosed with back in March.  i'm scared about now having to wait potentially two weeks for a CT scan and ultrasound  plus any treatment to start as i'm worried it's spreading quickly - perhaps it's psychosomatic but my symptoms feel so much worse today after that call from the doctor and i'm very scared and thinking of the absolute worst case scenario.

So, i'm just seeking a bit of support and positive vibes from the community.  I will also post this in the ovarian cancer thread.

thank you.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's great to read that you have found this community to be very supportive and it's good that you've already found and posted in the ovarian cancer group.

You might also like to join the BRCA positive group where you can also ask questions, share experiences and give and receive support. If you'd like to do this just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions in the same way as you posted here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
