I don’t even have a diagnosis so I probably have no business being here. Sorry. I have a colonoscopy booked for a week tomorrow. I have been passing blood for some months and recently been getting pain low down around my rectum. I have to go to the toilet many many times a day and can barely pass anything but gas and a tiny amount of stool which almost always has blood in it or with it. To be frank, as a 48 year older married man and father of two, am am terrified. I am so sorry to be so needy when there are people on here who know they are fighting cancer. I am just plane scared.

Hi Mike.
Colonoscopy today and not such great results. Quite a large tumour between rectum and anus. They think it is likely to be cancerous although I await biopsy results. I feel weirdly alive and conversely terrified/guilty. Yet again, feel like fraud. All a bit of a head ****!
Sorry to hear this news Tomus, as I had a comply different cancer do set up a post in the Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer group.
All the very best.
Hi Tomus. I normally lurk on the Bowel Cancer board but noticed your post so thought I’d say hi. I see you’ve joined the page so feel free to list whenever you’re ready or just have a read. We’re a friendly lot and all at different stages of treatment/recovery.
You’re right - it’s a total head**** but it’s also very treatable. The waiting for results, scans, meetings etc. is very stressful but (assuming it is cancer) once you have a treatment plan in place then things feel a little better. Stay away from google - it is out of date and downright scary in places. If you click on people’s names then their profile page may show their journey so far although you might need a cup of tea to hand if you plough through mine!
Hope to see you over on the other board
Take care

ps size does not matter! A large tumour is not necessarily more serious than a small one - mine was 9cm in from my anus and 4cm in size but shrank to 1cm after chemoradiotherapy
You’re welcome . There is an operation called APR (abdominal perineal Resection) where the anus is removed and the hole sewn up - affectionally known as a barbie butt - and there’s a few on here had it done. However I would wait until you’ve had your results and any scans then see what the action plan is. Tough times ahead but you’re young with a lot of years ahead of you yet so I’m sure you’ll cope with whatever comes your way
Keep us posted and feel free to ask anything - there’s nothing too daft or embarrassing!
