Hi my 80 year old father was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer 9 weeks ago. He has had 5 sessions of radiotherapy as a palliative measure because he was in agonising pain. Now 4 weeks after the radiotherapy he isn't having any physical pain but he's definitely suffering mentally. It's like the pain stopped him from dwelling on his diagnosis but now he hasn't got the pain he has a lot of time to think. He has always been active and has only gave up his allotment since his diagnosis, he feels like he is losing his independence as he isn't able to get out. I can see he is getting weaker, he has no appetite and just keeps saying he wants to die now. Its absolutely heartbreaking! My mother has early dementia and is struggling to retain whats happening with Dad so she just keeps telling him he'll get better which is upsetting my Dad. Its an awful situation. I have managed to deal with things up until now but I feel I'm losing control at the minute. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
