Hello,

Last week my mom was sent to hospital. From one day to another I noticed she started acting completely incoherent as putting her hands in the oven, using phone as remote control. Anyway, after calling an ambulance, they noticed that her blood sugar was through the roof, she had a temperature and she was acting a bit funny (I thought she might have a mini stoke). She was also talking as a child. She refused to go to hospital and the ambulance people said that she was competent and would treat her for an infection. After several hours I saw she was only sleeping, not eating, not moving much so I called a second ambulance. As soon as they arrived they declared her incapacitated and took her to hospital.

Once she got there they did a ct scan and a chest xray and found a large mass on brain and a tiny one on the lung. She has been on steroids for the past week to reduce the inflamation on the brain and on insulin because it has triggered her blood sugar.

All this new information has caught me out of guard, as last week she was a fully functional 60 year old mom, and now she doesnt even know what year she was born.

I have been told that the steroids should bring her back to acting "normal" but I haven't seen an improvement so far when I've talked to her and I'm scared.

They also wanted to release her to my care due to Covid at hospital, but without any care package. So besides having to deal with the emotional shock of these news I've had to learn about her rights and mine for the care.

I don't really what I am hoping by writing here, but I feel out of my dept and alone at the moment.

Anyway, thats my christmas this year. Hope you are all doing well. Thanks for reading. Xx
