My husband was diagnosed in October. It all started with a lump under left arm pit, went on the 27th of September and we had to go back for results on the 8th October. On this trip they took biopsy from the lump. We went back the following week and he was diagnosed with primary and secondary lung cancer in both lungs. The prognosis is 6 to 12-months so not good, today he has been admitted to hospital with pulmonary embolism in the right lung. I am wide awake cannot sleep and very worried

  • Hello Nanny Lumix, I am so sorry you are going through this especially over Christmas.  I was about to go to bed when I saw this and just wanted to say hi so you didn't feel alone at this late hour.  Hopefully someone going through something similar will get in touch with you soon and help make this a little easier. It helps talking to people going through a similar experience.  Wishing you all the best and hoping you are asleep by now.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community, a Community that no one really looks to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis like this can bring a lot of confusion, stress and many questions for all the family but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey can help a lot.

The Community is organised into support groups so you may want to start by joining our supportive Soft tissue sarcomas and Lung, secondary cancer groups as you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as patient or family.

Follow the above links then choose ‘click to join' or ‘join’ when the page opens. You can then introduce yourself, post questions or just  join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

You may also find our Carers only, Family and friends and Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups a great benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journesy.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support or just a listing ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.
