Hi I’m new to the group. My Dad was diagnosed with oesophago gastric cancer 14 Oct 20. He had laparoscopy performed which thankfully showed no spread and a localised cancer. We haven’t been given no TNM diagnosis. He is for chemo surgery then more chemo. He had his second cycle of chemo Thursday past and is really struggling this time round. His nausea and stomach pain /cramps have been awful this week (from someone who had no symptoms prior to diagnosis) he has tried cyclizine, ondansetron melts and now today the d/n has administered Levo inj. We have been advised to contact the helpline tomorrow to discuss syringe driver for management. I am wondering is there anyone on here who has experienced similar as I’m quite frankly scared to death that he seems to be deteriorating all of a sudden

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community, a Community that no one really looks to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey can help a lot.

The Community is organised into support groups and I see you have joined our supportive Gullet (oesophagus) cancerrain tumour group as you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as patient or family.

Follow the above link then introduce yourself, post questions or just  join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

You may also find our Carers only and Family and friends and groups a great benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support or just a listing ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

    All the very best.
