I was diagnosed with a glioblastoma grade 3 in 2004 iam still here but suffering from treatment side effects

I feel I want to work and get on with life but feel at the same time it maybe a wasted effort due to side effects and pain limit what I can do plus being newly diagnosed with addison's disease now makes life a struggle

And now feel lost as to what to do and where to go in life and feel should I just take it easy  and struggle with the effects I have

Any advice on what people do and why would be helpful.

Hi brainymanbar .I have just joined and in looking through found your post.

you don’t say how old you are which could have a bearing on work.My initial reaction to your post was    One day at a time !.That seems trite and a bit of a platitude and so it is BUT not easy to doGrinningnd even that has to be done ODAAT !GrinningGrinning I can’t tell yo what to do about work but maybe as you stop worrying I m pretty sure you’ll know.
Take care   Oh PS I’ve had 3 different types of cancer since I was 19 last one at 64 ,last year .I’m now unable to walk and get V frustrated at times but found what I’ve said to help

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community, a Community that no one really looks to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your post treatment life.

I do understand some of the challenges you are facing, long term side effect OST treatment can be such a challenge and do tend to dictate your life. It does take some determined effort to move life on and I found talking with others who walked the same journey helped a lot.

The Community is organised into support groups so you may want to start by joining our supportive Brain tumours and our Life after cancer groups as you will connect with others walking the post treatment journey both as patient or family.

Follow the above link then choose ‘click to join' or ‘join’ when the page opens. You can then introduce yourself, post questions or just  join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support or just a listing ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

Talking to people face to face can indeed help a lot but during these times it’s not that available but do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing and a lot of these services have moved onto online video support groups.

    All the very best.

  • Hi  and see that you had posted on one of my blogs, the blog area is not working that well at the moment but it was good to see your reply.

After reading your post and your profile you may want have a look at our Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Religion, spirituality and prayer group groups as you will connect with likeminded people

I hangout in both groups, I was diagnosed in 1999 with NHL and have been through lots of treatment to get me into remission - hit my name to see my story.
