Hi, I'm new to this site because my mum has breast cancer that has now spread to her lymph nodes and a lung. She has become very poorly over the last month and is in pain daily. It is hard to see it happen and know I cant do anything to ease it but wait for it to pass with another dose of morphine. What makes the condition more complicated is that she also has advancing alzheimer's and doesn't remember her cancer has spread, however, everytime she now feels a nodule we through the painful process of learning it all over again. It is hard emotionally for her and us.
Hi and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, a Community that no one really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis.
I lost my mum a few weeks back (not to cancer) and there is no instruction book to get through this. Enjoy the time you have and get out the old photos and keep making memories.
A cancer diagnosis like this brings a lot of confusion, stress and many questions on all the family but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot.
The Community is organised into support groups you may want to have a look at our supportive Carers only, Family and friends and Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups a great benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.group as this is the place where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as a patient or family.
