I have had traction bronchiectasis for 2 years and started coughing up blood on 30 Oct 2020. I was sent to A&E and told to go to AEC on Monday morning 2 Nov. They told me I had lung cancer. I had a bronchiectasis with lavage which I would not wish on my worst enemy. It has also gone to my liver. After getting the prognosis of incurable but treatable I had my first chemo and immunotherapy yesterday 2 Dec 2020. I have a lovely team in my corner. My biggest issue was trying to make sense of the two bags of drugs i have come home with. Today (3 Dec) i feel quite well but I think I have overdone staying downstairs instead of coming up and resting. Part of me is terrified, the rest of me just wants to treat it as a new adventure. The worst part is seeing my children so upset although they are straying strong, and it almost broke me when my strong capable sister couldn’t stop sobbing on the video call and I couldn’t even cuddle her.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read that you have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to your liver and understand what a difficult time this will be for you and your family.
I can see that you've already found and joined the lung cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
I thought I'd also suggest a couple of other groups that might interest you. The first is the secondary liver cancer group and the second the living with incurable cancer group. The latter is specifically for people with an incurable diagnosis where you can talk about making the most of your life and discuss your feelings openly.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
