Hi all I’ve joined today as I am really struggling. My mum got diagnosed a week ago with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. She went to see the respiratory doctor yesterday , he’s told her she nee a PET scan, lung function test, heart scan before he can decide what course of treatment to give her . I’m just so scared her tumour is 102mm x 60mm which I know is considered large. The lung cance
nurse phoned today and I told her about my concerns but she’s told me not to worry about the size of the tumour because sometimes it makes no difference, is that right? I’m completely new to all thi
so I have no idea. I’m just scared my mum won’t last a year . My mum has lived with me since my dad died in 2011 and I’m struggling watching her suffer
she’s struggling with nausea at the moment, is this a side effect??
many help/advice would be greatly appreciated xx
Hi Toot22 and welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and it's natural to have lots of questions and worries.
As the community is divided up into various support groups I thought I'd suggest that you join the lung cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences and also the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and get support.
To join these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you need any help finding your way around the community just give me a shout.
x
