    Hi Emie,

Hope you are ok? It’s a shock isn’t it, I’m also newly diagnosed.......if I’m honest I still don’t think it’s sunk in yet.  I’m in hospital tomorrow for my lumpectomy and absolutely dreading it, they think I’ll need radiotherapy afterwards but won’t know for a few weeks. Are you booked in for an operation? Good luck with your MRI today Relaxed️ xx

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that you've just been diagnosed with DCIS and I know what a difficult time this will be for you right now.

I can see that you've already found and joined both the breast cancer and the breast cancer for the under-50s groups and I'm sure you'll find that these are great places to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

All the best with your MRI today.

Thank you. The MRI will determine if I have to have a lumpectomy or a mastectomy, terrified of both if I'm honest. My surgery will be after Christmas and I also may have to have radiotherapy. Good luck with your operation tomorrow would love to hear from you how it all goes.

    Xx

Thank you, will do that x

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I agree that being told that you have cancer can take a while to 'sink in'.

As you have joined the breast cancer group I'm assuming that this is the type of cancer that you have been diagnosed with. I'm sure you'll get lots of support from the other members of the group when you're ready to post there. There are people there who have had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and will be happy to answer your questions and share their experiences.

    Hi everyone

On the 13th January I had a lumpectomy on my right breast and a reduction and an uplift on both  breasts. I am healing well and will get my results on Thursday to make sure they removed everything, fingers crossed. It's been scarey but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be and I'm doing really well.
