Hi everyone,

Ive been diagnosed with a 9cm fast growing triple neg tumour. I’m 60 with no history of breast cancer in the family (one ovarian cancer death however), no HRT, breastfed all three kids I’d had by age 32, never smoked...

I’m about to start chemo in the hope the tumour will shrink so I can have surgery. Signs are that it hasn’t spread to the lymph nodes but I’m having a CT scan next week to see if it’s travelled anywhere else.

Is there anyone else on this forum with a tumour that big?

I only felt it as it grew forward and got sore, as apparently it started towards the back of the breast. Initially, it was thought I had two but it turned out to be one big one.

is there anyone who is recovering from a tumour that size?

Also, is there anyone here not bothering with coldcapping? part of me doesn’t want to bother with it and part of me doesn’t want to be labelled ‘cancer patient’.

What with this, Covid and a new baby grandson close by, it’s not looking like a lot of fun, this journey ahead.

I’ll get there.

appreciate your responses.

  • Hi Daisybaby

really sorry to read your of your diagnosis and well done for being brave aand well done for joining this community

i send best wishes for your future successful treatment.

Sorry I don’t have a cancer experience similar to yours but I’m sure others here will have and will assist.

Cold cap was something my wife tried but found uncomfortable so went without. She never regretted it but I understand and appreciate the reasons for contemplating its use. My Sandra got through her chemo and it’s effects on her hair quite cheerfully and after buying the wigs, wore them once and then abandoned them and opted for bandannas instead.! Personal preference.

I hope you are able to see your grand child during this lockdown and enjoy their company.

    You definitely will get there!

    take care x

Cancer may affect my body, but I won’t let it affect my spirit

    Hi MrT1

Thankyou for responding and for your best wishes. It’s good to know some people don’t pursue it as I’m not sure I want to - thanks for that piece of info about your wife. I appreciate it. I feel encouraged.

I have four lovely grandsons, three of whom are nearby, all 5 and under.

    thankyou, again.

  • Hi and a second welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. It's natural to have lots of questions and you've come to the right place for answers!

I can see that you've already found and joined the triple negative breast cancer group and I'm sure if you copy and paste your post from here into a new thread there you'll connect with others in the same position as you.

You might also like to consider joining the main breast cancer group as it's generally busier and lots of people join both. If you'd like to do that clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. Once you've joined you can introduce yourself and post questions in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'. The breast cancer group has a dedicated thread about chemotherapy if you wanted to ask any specific questions.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming treatment and if you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
