My 37 year old son has been diagnosed with terminal neuroendocrine cancer with multiple tumours in his liver.  It has also affected his pelvis, ribs , shoulder and spine

I am terrified and don't know what to think, feel, do.  He's been given 3-6 months.  In August this year my mother passed away with lung cancer

Not sure if anyone is going through a similar situation xx

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your son has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer and it's not surprising that you are terrified. A cancer diagnosis brings a lot of stress to both the patient and their family but having the support of others can make a difference.

It's perfectly normal to feel as you do at the moment and it might help you to have a look through this information from Macmillan on your feelings when someone has cancer. It includes ways to help you cope and advice on how to get help if needed.

The community is divided up into various groups so I'm going to suggest a couple for you to think about joining. The first is the neuroendocrine cancer group where you can ask questions and share experiences with others with the same diagnosis and the second is the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries with others who have a loved one with an incurable diagnosis.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the pages that open. You can then post questions in the same way as you posted this message and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your son's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))
