I’m being tested for pancreatic cancer, go for my scan and endoscopy on Wednesday, waiting on another set of bloods on Monday amd tonight I am having ‘ a speed wobble ‘ so to speak.
I’ve been as positive as I can be since Monday when this all started but I’m feeling so uncomfortable tonight the vague pain seems magnified right now and I’m feeling scared stiff quite frankly of the outcome .
Please tell me this is natural and that this wait is the worst part

  • Hi Stepfor03

Quite understandable to have a wobble, we all do on this journey. Deep breaths, one step at a time. You have been great keeping all under control so far , so don’t be hard on yourself for wobbling a bit. A really tough time for you so be gentle on yourself.

Trying to figure out the whole of this journey in one go is impossible, we all just have to wait for each stage and deal with things as we learn about them, and yes the not knowing is the worst thing. My partner was tearing her hair out waiting for each stage of my results, I’ve been through it twice before so knew I was in good hands with our wonderful NHS, so more relaxed but still the waiting does get to you. Sadly there are delays and this is a complex area the doctors work in, we all would like results quicker and I’m sure the medics do all they can for us.

take care and good luck with everything

Thank you for your kind reply, this weekend has been such a tough one .. blood results come back today and the nerves are immense. I just want to know what i'm dealing with so i can start to fight if needs be .. i'm sure there will be some relief in knowing for sure but its still a stomach knottingly apprehension waiting for the call.

  • Hi  a second welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, a Community that no one really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your on going diagnosis.

I have been on my cancer journey for over 21 years now so waiting for results and a plan can be very stressful. Having had multiple relapses over the years I quickly understood that I could throw all the worry and stress I could muster at this but in reality it made no difference to what I was eventually told, but controlling the battle between the ears helps you deal with the journey you end up on.

Talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot so you may want to join our Pancreatic cancer group as this is the place where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as a patient or family.

Follow the above link then choose ‘click to join' or ‘join’ when the page opens.

You can then introduce yourself, post questions or just  join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

Its always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support or just a listing ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

Our Online Information and Support Section is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.
