My wonderful partner recently diagnosed with cancer in hips starts 5 days of radiotherapy Tuesday . Has had a bad few days . Feeling v v down and worthless . I m v worried of course weekend no one in hospital where he is to help councell and support . Twice now he s had an accident going to toilet commode . Is v embarrassed and upset . V little staff to help . Managed to get on and off commode but had accident in doing so . Also in doing this himself now has severe extreme pain in hips though has been given oral pain killer which he was still waiting to kick in when we faced time half hour ago . I m extremely worried now of his mental state as he just keeps crying and v negative thoughts . He has a full week of radio therapy starting Tuesday. Plus we are seeing consultants and he is also seeing dentist as they are concerned re teeth  before he starts therapy . Just need a little support help and re assurance really I guess .

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, a Community that no one really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your partners diagnosis and ongoing challenges.

A cancer diagnosis brings a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot.

The Community is organised into two types of support groups - Cancer specific and Cancer experience. These are the places where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as a patient or family.

Follow the above links and hove look at the groups then choose ‘click to join' or ‘join’ when the page opens.

You can then introduce yourself, post questions or just  join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

You may also find our Carers only and Family and friends groups a great benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.

Its always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support or just a listing ear.

The service is open every day 8am to 8pm and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here for more information.

You can also email them, use the online chat and see you have found our Ask an Expert section.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.
