So it’s been three years since my diagnosis and treatment ( mastectomy without recon) and I am really struggling to cope with every day life. It annoys me because I’m here and well but my confidence in living a long healthy life is crushed. I worry all the time about a recurrence, or something new. Three years before I was diagnosed my partner of eight years and father of my child died at 24 from epilepsy. My experiences have changed me for the worse. Now I feel I cannot parent or be a partner properly. I’m tired all the time, have lost weight, eating is hard when I’m stressed out I lose my appetite COMPLETELY. I don’t feel supported by the breast care nurses or my own GP. Due to COVID they are reluctant to do face to face appointments and I’ve been badgering them for a couple of months now. I don’t want to feel like this but I don’t know how to change it.
Hi and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, a Community that no one really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and ongoing challenges you are facing.
A cancer diagnosis brings a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot.
The Community is organised into support groups and I see you have joined our Breast cancer for the under-50s group and you may find our main Breast cancer group as good places where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as a patient or family.
Follow the above link then introduce yourself, post questions or just join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.
