Hi, I'm sorry to find myself here but also you too, hopefully, we can beat this thing together!  I'm usually a very positive person, however, the iron depletion has exhausted this generally. Tomorrow is surgery day!  I am due to have a right ileostomy and hopeful no stoma. I have stage 3 cancer. I am nervous and scared but also need this thing gone.  Has anyone else had this recently and is there anything I need to know today that will help with the hospital experience?  Thank you for your time. xx

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's perfectly normal to be nervous and scared at the thought of having an operation.

The community is divided up into groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the ileostomy, colostomy and stoma support group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who will understand what you're about to go through.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post your question in the same way that you first posted this message in the New to the Community group and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

We also have cancer specific groups where you can talk to others with the same type of cancer. Have a look through this list and choose the one relevant to you, or let me know what type of cancer you have and I'll provide you with a direct link.

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow
