Hello

I am new to the community and have been diagnosed with gynaecological cancer. I have started chemo however I have been informed that I will need radiotherapy, having read around the subject via this website I am feeling very anxious regarding the side effects. I would be very grateful if folks could share their experiences of pelvic radiotherapy as I feel at this point I need some reassurance and positivity.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with cancer and it's totally normal to feel anxious about your upcoming treatment.

As the community is divided up into groups you could have a look through this list to see which one is applicable to you. Once you've joined you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who will understand what you're about to go through. Alternatively, if you'd like to tell me what type of cancer you have I can provide a link straight to one of the groups.

To join the relevant group choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions in the same way that you first posted this message in the New to the Community group and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
