My mother was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer in February and passed away on Sunday morning. I’ve got a mixture of emotions at the moment with frustration and anger being the main one at the moment. My father has cared for her during the whole time and I feel they haven’t received any advice or guidance on what support they were entitled to. I came across McMillan website only a few weeks ago and passed details to them to ensure they could receive the financial support they could as regular hospital visits, car parking charges, increased heating bills etc were all becoming expensive. I wish I had just taken control of the situation for them as they were obviously busy with the various hospital appointments, day to day living etc so didn’t they have a spare 5 minutes to sort out.
We thought we had a few more months with her until she was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night, went down hill quickly and died on Sunday morning. It’s all happened so quickly and my father is now left with the financial burden whilst at the same time trying to process the loss of his wife. I feel so guilty I just didn’t sort everything for them. Is there anything I can do to ensure he is able to make a back dated claim?
