Hi there I am new to this and wondered if I could ask for some advice .

A lady that is like a mum to me has recently been diagnosed with throat cancer and I don’t know what to do

What do I say to her, how do I act round her

Daft things to ask I know but help please

  • Hi

The best advice I can give is to show how much you love and care for her.   A text or phone call as visits may not be possible due to Covid and the lockdown.  Just being there to listen to her worries or to talk about normal things.  I remember so well how much friends helped me through the difficult days.
You will get a sense of what she needs and take your cue from that.  Everyone reacts differently and there is no right or wrong way to deal with cancer with ups and downs through treatment and tests!

    Take care x
