Hi,
My mum was recently diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. She is undergoing chemotherapy while we also wait to see if she can have radio therapy. I am not her main carer or live with her but i am taking her to her many appointments and for her chemo sessions. My husband and i are about to start IVF and someone has told me today that i shouldn't be seeing her as the radiation could have an effect or i should delay our treatment. I have tried to google this but there is no answer i can find. Does anyone know? Thanks
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer but you've come to the right place for help and support.
As the community is divided up into groups I'm going to recommend a few for you to join. The first is the oesophageal cancer group where you can ask questions and share experiences with others who have this type of cancer and they may be able to tell you what, if any danger, you are in from your mother's radiation treatment.
The second is the family and friends group where you can give and receive support from others who have, or have had, a member of their family with cancer.
To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
