I’m sad and glad, but feel so scared is that normal

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

The short answer to your question is that how you feel is normal for you and probably normal for everyone who's gone through treatment.

I can see that you've already found and joined the bowel cancer group so presume that was the type of cancer that you had. I'm sure if you post in that group you'll find plenty of people who understand what you're feeling. To get straight there just click on the link I've created.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Bossy

Well done for getting through all your treatment which must have been really difficult time for you.

everyone is different in how they deal with these matters, but what ever feels right for you is the way to feel. It will be the same roller coaster of emotions post treatment as I’m sure it was before. Looking back on how I behaved at stressful moments some of the things I did seem quite odd to me now, but I know those things I did to help me get through, so just go with the flow.

small steps and be kind to yourself, you have been through a hell of a thing

Cancer may affect my body, but I won’t let it affect my spirit
