Hi I have just joined. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last December. To cut a long story short I was admitted to hospital last December with a chest infection bloods showed something up, this was a Friday evening G.P had sent me to hospital suspected heart attack. Anyway never saw another Dr until late morning on the Monday. On the Sunday Evening I had been moved to a gastro intestinal ward from the medical assessment unit. The Doctors told me I had suspected bowel cancer I had been given scans over the weekend. After further tests it turned out to be ovarian. If you can call it lucky I got my treatment through covid lock down and my operation in July followed by two more sessions of chemo. Last week I was told by oncologist that I am in remission yippee. But it feels odd coming to terms with it am I going to be ok. Has it really gone away suppose this is normal is it? Fingers crossed I have been so strong and positive all the way through my friend's and family say. Suppose as time goes on you get more confident with it. Anyway that is my cancer journey. Just want to say I have had first class treatment from the NHS every step of the way.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, a Community that no one ever really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your cancer journey but great to hear you are in remission.

You may find talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot.

As my journey was totally different although it took 17 years before I heard the word remission you may want to join our Ovarian cancer group as this is the place where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as a patient or family.
