Hi, I'm new to this community, but unfortunately not new to cancer. 23 years ago I was successfully treated for heptosplenic non hodgkin's lymphoma and have enjoyed good health since until now... During the summer I noticed a change in my bowel movements on top of what I thought was a return of piles and an anal fissure. Trip to GP revealed a lump in my lower rectum. A colonoscopy showed a tumour. So I and my specialist thought I was on track for general treatment for bowel cancer however the biopsy revealed that the tumour is lymphoma in origin.  I have now been referred to haematologist for follow up next week. After all this time this news was a real punch to the stomach and the thought of going through CHOP again is daunting.  Emotionally up and down as well as having to deal with unpredictable and painful bowel movements. Also following a low residue diet which is challenging. Any support and tips welcome

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, a Community that no one ever really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your possible NHL relapse.

I was diagnosed with a rare skin NHL over 21 years back and have had multiple relapses over these years but presently 4 years in remission but will never see cure.

You may not get CHOP again as a lot of these treatments are once only but over the past 20+ years there have been massive steps in blood cancer treatment.

There have been a few folks in our Non-Hodgkin lymphoma support group with presentation in the bowel so why not come over and join us in the group.
