Hello everyone,

In August I was diagnosed with breast cancer grade 1 (I found myself a lump), although they told me from first moment is curable and is very early, I was in shocked. I felt my body different (everything is on the mind) and after the second day of shock, I said to mysefl that the mind is the most powerful thing and I did not want to be sad or crying ( I have been doing many things during this time, one of them learning to play guitar Relaxed)

I had my lump removed already and I am waiting (and ready) for the next step, most probably as doctor said, Radio.

I feel so good with myself and I am sure this is a lesson of life to appreciate more the beautiful things around us.

All the best for everyone, keep strong!

Ps; I needed to be part of the comunity and read other stories and share my own.

  • Hi   and welcome to the Online Community, although I am always sorry to see folks finding us and so sorry to hear about your breast cancer diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis brings a lot of confusion, stress and many questions but as you have said, talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot.

The Community has various cancer specific support groups and I see you have found our Breast cancer group and we also have our Breast cancer for the under-50s group. These are the places where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as patient or family.

Follow the link I've created above then choose ‘click to join' when the page opens.

You can then introduce yourself and post questions selecting '+New' or '+' (depending on your device) you can also join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

The Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information. The service is open every day 8am to 8pm and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00. Clicking here for more information.

You can also email them, use the online chat and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.

Hi Laia20 and everyone else, I’m also new to the group. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June, but found out it was in both sides.  I had my surgery to remove the cancer 4 weeks ago which went well.  I’ve now been told I have to have chemotherapy.  I have my consultation appointment on the 12th of October.  It’s my 50th birthday on the 24th. So I’m hoping I can enjoy my birthday before I start the chemotherapy.  I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if we have to isolate from our family and friends for the entire 18 weeks please.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to you.

Do have a look at the links I provided in my first reply.

With regards to what you do with regards to isolation your first stop is your clinical team then common sense comes into play when you risk assess who you come in contact with and where and what you do.

    All the very best.
