Hello,

I’m new to this forum, hope everyone’s safe and okay.

My grandad was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer a few weeks ago Aswell as skin cancer and tumours on his heart (this could be benign).

I’ve never  had anyone in my close family have cancer before and I’m struggling on how to cope with the fact my grandad has this and it deteriorating so fast. We only lost my nan in 2017 but I was able to care for her daily and be with her when she passed but I can’t be there for my grandad in the way I want too because of Covid.

I just wondered if anyone has any advice on how to cope with this as I’m finding it really hard but I have to be the glue that’s holding everyone together. I’m positive around my grandad and everyone else as he needs us and I do not want grandad knowing how heartbroken I am because he needs positivity and laughter. I’m also finding it hard because grandad has lost the want to do the things he loved like his gardening and I don’t know how to help him.

Thanks in advance xx
