I have been discharged from 2 week stay in hospital with 2 Nephrostomies on the condition I drink plenty of fluids & monitor my intake & outtake, I been advised to drink 5000 mls a day, seems excessive and was worried about loosing electrolytes & sodium.

I’m new here but I also have nephrostomy tubes. When I shower I cover mine with a waist trainer to keep water from hitting it.  There is also a clear tape I get from Walmart that is really good at keeping water out   It’s called Lot fancy transparent tape. I put this over the holes in my back and it works great. And when you change it does not have a lot of sticky residue   It’s nothing expensive and you get a lot of it.  Highly recommend it.

I would supplement some Gatorade for the electrolytes and sodium. It is still liquid to count as your water intake.
