Just had left side  of my thyroid removed due to enlarged nodules and nodules growing down under my collar bone. Pathologists report said cancer was found so have to go back into hospital for right side thyroid to be removed. Nothing showed up on the scan or ultra sound regarding any cancer in thyroid. Have had scan on chest and abdomen and told all clear. What’s to say there is cancer present but it hasn’t shown up because it didn’t show up last time.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I didn't have the same type of cancer as you but I can remember how numb I felt after being told.

As the community is divided up into groups I'm going to recommend that you join the Thyroid cancer forum group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who will understand what you're going through.

To join just click on the link and then choose 'click to join' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting '+New' or '+' (depending on the device you're using) and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
