Hello, I am sad to be here but i have just been diagnosed with lung cancer. I am due to have a PETscan on Wednesday to confirm it. I am puzzled how they can diagnose it without even a biopsy. It is all very new to me.
Hi minimoo and welcome to the community, although sorry to hear of your diagnosis. The early days of uncertainty can be quite worrying and many of us here will understand your feelings. PET scans can be very accurate at identifying cancer cells. They are far more precise than the regular CT and MRIs. It also give the medics an accurate picture of what they are dealing with and this helps when putting a treatment plan in place. Could I suggest you join the Lung Group . There you will find people with experience of this and will be able to tell you more and help you through this. Click the link to get to the group and you can start a new discussion there. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
