Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer pretty much as we went in to lockdown. From discovering the lump to surgery it was all super fast - 6 weeks and 2 days. I have cycle 3 of chemo next Tuesday. It would be nice to talk to people who are going through or have gone through the same. It’s been a lot of change very quickly. Thank you.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but it's great that you've been seen and treated so quickly.

As the community is divided up into groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group where you can ask questions, share experience and get support from others with the same type of cancer.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi, nice to meet you Blush I'm in a very similar position and was diagnosed after lockdown. The care I've received has been amazing! Like you, from the first phone call to my gp, I was referred, screened, diagnosed and operaGrind on all within 1 month! I had a grade 3, triple negative type which was quite scary but luckily I must have caught it just in time and it hadn't spread to the lymph nodes Grin I had my 2nd chemo yesterday and it's going quite well. How about you? What has your experience been like? xx

I'm sorry to see that like Georgie180 you have also had a recent breast cancer diagnosis. I can see that you've already found and joined the triple negative breast cancer group and I'm sure you'll get lots of help and support from the folks over there.

Hi Blush, my care has definitely been amazing and it was great that it was all cut out so quick.  I had a mastectomy on my right side and lymph node clearance. I struggle with how poorly I feel at first but I’m usually back on my feet within about 8 days. My hair has pretty much fallen out now. Xx
