Hello everyone!
I went to the doctors yesterday as I thought I felt a small lump.
After seeing the doctor she said I can't find any abnormalities but there is a lump and she has referred me for a ultrasound.
What does this mean? Surly a lump is an abnormality?
Because I was so overwhelmed by the exam I didn't take in all what she said and now I'm even more worried. (I suffer with anxiety)
I keep checking myself and now I'm really sore, I think I can still feel it anymore so I'm wondering if what she felt was worse than what I found in the first place!
I have no other symptoms
I don't want to google because I've done that before and it's the worse thing you can do.
I'm 30 years old and any advice would be most greatful xxx
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your concerns.
You don't say where this lump is but over my 20+ years on my cancer journey lumps and bumps come and go and a lot are not cancer related but a few were. At this stage I would not put 2 & 2 together. Your GP is just being careful and this is great and getting an ultrasound will help move this all in a better way.
What I can say is I have had a lump on my neck for a few years now and due to checkups I know it’s not a problem, just a fatty lump. But I do feel it a lot and the more I do, the more it gets inflamed and sorry resulting in my wife throwing a slipper at me.
At this stage I feel I can’t safely point you to any of our Cancer specific Groups
But it’s always good to talk, so can I highlight the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information and Clinical Information mostly open 8.00 to 8.00
Our Online Information and Support Section is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.
All the very best.

Yes, it has been an interesting 21 years but the one thing I found out very quickly was all the stress and worry in the world made no difference to what happened medically..... but did make a difference to how I got through mentally.
All the best and I do hope that this will be a storm in a teacup ((hugs))
I would not worry to much at this stage I know that's easier said than done. Wait until you have ultrasound it should show if there is anything to worry about it could be a reactive node. But as I said ultrasound will pick it up. I had an ultrasound back in May mine showed many enlarged lymph nodes but one was a lot bigger than the rest and very abnormal looking. Had biopsy done on Friday just waiting for results. Hoping it is just down to inflammation or is autoimmune. Wishing you all the best and hope it is a positive result.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
