Hi, my mum was recently Diagnosed with lung cancer and had already spread to 2 parts in her back when it got diagnosed in March Since then she had an operation on her back to try save her mobility and has been back in hospital on her birthday when we found out her stage and also found it had spread, since March I came to stay with my parents for a day I have now ended up being mums carer and I think she could be getting worse with things I am seeing happening, my family aren’t the type of family to talk about feelings or anything going on so I’ve been turning to my friends and one of them today was like you need support and help with everything and suggested here to talk to others about what I’m going through.
thank you
xx
Hi , I’m sorry to hear about your Mum, what a nice friend you have to suggest coming here. I can see you have already joined the carers group and friends and family so well done. I am sure the members there will be happy to tell you of their experiences, and give you mutual support while you cope with things.
I have also found the information and support pages an excellent source for reading up on my cancer type, about the drugs and side effects and about talking and coping emotionally. If you need any help finding anything in particular I’m sure one of us will help. The ask an expert section is useful for well writing questions for the attention of nurses or other experts and you have the Macmillan support line to listen as well. I find when something is milling around in my head just the act of writing it down or talking to someone just seems to help.
The next thing that you might find helpful to do is jot somethings in your profile, more or less what you’ve already said. If you click on my user name for will be able to take a peak at mine which actually needs shortening and updating. If you click on your username it will take you to yours for you to edit and save. Your so quick though you might have already done it by the time I finish typing this.
Take care
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
