Hi there

My Dad (85) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which has spread to his liver, Feb this year... He is not in pain but so fragile and looks so sad.  My Mum (86), herself with health issues,  cares for him as much as she can....I do their shopping and odd tasks.   I feel so frustrated that there is no help for them.  The odd phone call from palliative care nurse  and district nurse.

My heart is breaking to see my parents like this.

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear that your dad has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which has spread to his liver and it's natural that you want to try and help as much as you can.

As the community is divided up into groups, so I'm going to recommend that you join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries as well as talk about practical things like getting help for your parents.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
