Hi I’m new here just joined my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer that is incurable April 20th this year she has Mesothelioma which is a cancer in the lining of her lungs we are all devastated by this she is having chemo which knocks her off her feet and is on round 3 today it’s so hard to watch her go through this and I’ve had a really emotional day today I find it hits me on some days and some days are better than others.Shes just been told today she may need a blood transfusion as she may have anemia this stuff is absolute poison in her system it’s awful she is getting lots of side affects. She was given 6-12 months to live and has the more aggressive type with Sarcomatoid cells I hate this cancer today that’s how I feel she’s only 67 too it’s just so unfair my mum is my best friend. We are trying to go out for days out with her which can be a struggle but she does enjoy it I’m just worried the more ill she gets she won’t be able to my dad is in a lot of denial about her condition too he doesn’t want to accept it and they have been married for 49 years this year. Thanks for allowing me to share this on here xxx

  • Hi and welcome to the online community at what sounds like a very difficult time for the whole family.

I can see that you've already found and joined both the mesothelioma and family and friends groups and I'm sure if you post in these groups you'll find people who are willing to share their experiences with you and give you support.

Another group you might want to consider joining is the supporting someone with incurable cancer. If you'd like to join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about you mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
