Hi. I Was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in Feb, I had a mastectomy end of March and started my chemo in May. I have had 3 rounds of EC, which have floored me. I also have a 7 yr old and a 2 yr old at home.. It's been bloody tough with no family nearby, lockdown, schools and nursery shut. I'm a nurse as are most of my friends so I haven't been able to see them either.. Yep, feeling pretty sorry for myself!!! I'm starting docitaxal on Friday and I am am petrified about the side effects..
I guess, I' looking for some light at the end of the tunnel to all this
Thanks for reading this..
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to hear all that you've had to deal with over the last few months and I think you deserve to feel a bit sorry for yourself.
As the community is divided up into groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support form others who will understand exactly what you're going through.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi there
You've had a tough time going through all this with 2 small children.
I was diagnosed in Feb also, triple negative, had taxol and carboplatin, wasn't responding well to this chemo regime (as in lump wasn't shrinking) so proceeded with mastectomy end of May. Oncologist decided to continue with my original chemo plan pre op so having 2nd ac (I'm in Ireland we call it ac, I gather UK call it ec) tomorrow. First ac did floor my energy for about 6 days then I was ok. Definitely felt more drained on it than I did with the taxol so hopefully taxol will be much easier on you. Eat well and drink lots, and rest when you can, not easy with the kids, are you alone with them?
I'm a single mum but my son is 11, actually 12 on Thursday so no minding in him, except to cook. I'm also a nurse!
Isolation most definately the hardest part, not having people in to have a cuppa with or even go out for a cuppa with friends. I'm getting fed up of it a bit now, in isolation since March! But there is light at the end of the tunnel, we must not forget that. Positivity is key in all this. Get friends round to your garden for a drink or a cuppa and a chat, it's important to have some sort of outlet. Sitting in your garden is safe as houses really...I've been doing that all along and it's great. I've also driven to meet friends car by car side by side, still safe but an outlet.
Hope all goes well, keep your chin up...xx
