This is all new to me, online chat etc. I'm back on wed to hospital to discuss blood results and a bone marrow biopsie.
I'm scared stiff if I'm honest as is my hubby. I just wanted to say that to someone x
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with leukaemia and it's perfectly natural that you and your husband are scared. Although I didn't have the same type of cancer as you I can remember only too well how scared and numb I felt when I was told. However, most people find, myself included, that once you have a treatment plan in place you'll feel a lot more comfortable.
As the community is divided up into groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the leukaemia group, where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who will understand exactly what you're going through.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Sending a virtual ((hug))
Hi and a second welcome and thought I would add to my friend latchbrook’s great reply.
Blood Cancers like Leukaemia have lots of different types so it is VERY important you find out as much information at you can so make sure you take notes or even ask to record your appointment.
Blood Cancers on the whole are very treatable, yes some treatment can be hard work but all doable.
As well as our general Leukaemia group we do also have groups for some of the main types. So once you get your ‘type’ join the best group and start posting.
I was diagnosed with another rare type of blood cancer (Cutaneous T/Cell Lymphoma) way back in 1999...... and I am still around boing great.
Happy to talk more.
