Hi! I'm new to all of this, i usually google the hell out of stuff and read other peoples experiences., but now it's time for, I think! I hope I don't ramble too much...
I'm 34 and have 2 children!
Symptoms started around January with one nipple becoming sore, red and flaky. A few weeks later the other did the same, I then noticed both nipples had turned an 'off' white colour.
I started losing weight quite rapidly around 3 months ago (1 1/2 st without dieting). One breast has gradually become larger than the other, but the small one can become quite tender, and I occasionally have random aches as though I've bruised it.
I have been bruising easily on my upper arms and sometimes legs without any trauma and have just noticed I have red, pin prick blisters (no clusters, on random parts of my body, more so on my shoulders and upper back - spaced out).
I've been putting off calling my Drs, I didn't think they would see me if I'm honest as I feel theres probably nothing wrong. Anyway, finally made a call to my surgery yesterday, this was prompted bause my partner, who is blaze about everything and has a what will be will be kind of attitude, said my breasts looked odd. He said I think you should call the dr and make an appointment
.
So, I waited all day for a.call back, at 5 dr called, after speaking he asked me to get there asap as he needed to examine me. Left work and kinda run there lol. He examined me and said he was going to refer me just to rule it out (he didn't find any lumps etc) and because of family history. My mum was diagnosed at 57 with pagents disease of the breast 2 years ago, this was after being misdiagnosed repeatedly for 6 months. Turned out it had spread to her lymph nodes so was stage 3 cancer and had to have a mastectomy prior to chemothank/radiotherapy. It worked and shes still with us thankfully! There have also been a further 8 women on her side that have had/died because of breast cancer (all over 75 years old).
He was able to book my referral there and then which is next week, the hospital called today to confirm also.
Long and short of it, I am terrified. I haven't told my mum, tbh I wasn't going to tell anyone (mum/sisters) but thought it wasn't fair on them if I did have cancer, they wouldn't be prepared? I've made the decision to not tell my mum at all unless it's bad news.
With the doctors rushing the referral (I mean him personally booking it!) it's made me think it's bad news.
Does everyone get referrals for the one stop clinic? Or is there a priority type system? Usually I'm waiting weeks for referral (for any reason), the on the spot booking has thrown me tbh.
Ahhh so so anxious
