hi! :)

my mum has been diagnosed with cancer for a few years now, but her condition has suddenly deteriorated drastically and perhaps may even be terminal.

im her eldest child (still a teenager!) and im honestly struggling with coming to terms with the news, as well as managing my own emotions.

i would really appreciate some support, (perhaps even from others my age who are facing the loss of a parent) but im not sure where to look :(

any help would be much appreciated!! hope everyone here has a lovely day <3

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your mum has had cancer for a number of years now and I can understand how difficult this must be for you.

The community is divided up into groups and I think you might benefit from joining the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries with others who have a loved one who is living with cancer.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
