Hi.. first time post here.

My partner is awaiting results on CT results that showed 2 areas of concern that link to bowel cancer 2 years ago. Picked up on follow up tests.

I feel like there is an enormous pressure on my chest at all times. I keep rehearsing final words in my head and when my partner told me ‘i don’t want to die’ my heart broke.

We don’t have the results yet but we both curled in on ourselves and prepared for the worse. Is this mad?

I want to reassure him that everything will be ok but I cant cos its not true.

Scared and sleepless

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about your partners on going investigation - but I am pleased to say that you have found a safe place to find some support.

Cancer investigations indeed brings a lot of confusion, stress and many questions. I was diagnosed in 1999 with a rare blood cancer and the one thing I found out was all the stress and worry in the world made no difference as to what my team would eventually tell me but did make a big difference as to how the family and I got through the many years of treatment..... I am in remission from first being told in 1999 that I was incurable but treatable but would never see remission, there is always hope.

I found talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helped a lot.

I see you have found out that the Community has many dedicated support groups and you have joined our supportive Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer group.

Follow the link I've created above then hit ‘start a discussion’ and you are ready to go.

You could then copy and paste the information from this first post into your new discussion or you can just join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

You have also found our Family and friends group, this is the place to connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.

It’s always good to talk, so can I highlight the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 This service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

All the very best and ((hugs))
